The 2013 & 2012 List - Lijstjes 2013 & 2013

Of course it is the beginning of another year so time for "the lists" - what happened in 365 days last year
can be captured in several lists it seems. Partly inspired by Google, see link underneath, I will try and capture some of my & our year through a couple of lists as well.

January - till August
This period of time we were still in the Netherlands and both working with Matthew at school.
Key words (for me): at work,
VOR=Co-workers Council, New Storemanager, Projects; Sales, Logistics and Customer Services.
And at home,
Days out, Floriade, IJmuiden, Zaanse Schans, New Apple Store in Amsterdam! (where my mate works)
Matthew's Party, (also Freedom Pop with rappers), New Cinema in Hoofddorp, Parents Council at school, Vierdaagse (4 evenings of walking) and then, eventually...
Emptying the house: by putting things in boxes in storage and to sell things on Marktplaats (E-bay), throwing things away...

Once in Kenya other keywords come up:
Life is good  which is both a slogan I like and a brand from the US with a very positive outlook and a lot of posts on Facebook, the last being an ongoing source of information, inspiration and annoyance the last (4) months...
Coffee, pretty important beverage! Both at home with the Jura machine as here with the Kenwood machine.
A cup a day keeps the doctor away ;-) Also when out with Kieran to discover Nairobi and stopping at Dormans or Java house.
Some 'little' animals should also figure...Ants on and off are a pest in the kitchen and bathroom mainly and Mosquito's and Mosquito bites espescially my feet and legs are covered in bites and scars... Gekko family living in the bathroom, Justin who is about 5cm long, Justin's mother who is twice as long and just recently a new addition, Justin Jr who is a couple of cm long!

The main reason we are here - Children!

Volunteerwork, will come up soon now and should stay around till we leave..
(so far is was helping out at the Dutch School)
Books, to 'while away the time' I have been reading a bit,  so far a grand total of 30 books.
Thanks to the family, the Swedish library at the school compound and my first experiences with ebooks...
New School, The Netherlands School Society, the big and main thing (except for swimming;-) in Matt's life and, from tomorrow also for Kieran.Great system for lessons (IPC international curriculum) nice people.

So, What is hot and What's not ?

2013 Predictions ;-) (from the second half of the year)

IN:
Africa (in one way or another I am certain we / I will be influenced by our stay here)

Work again at IKEA! (lots of people might not believe it, but I do actually miss it...)

Twitter (short and sweet, in NL with almost constant access to WiFi)

Books :-)     sure that will not change!

Shaving, might be a necessity ;-)

Courthouse, to finalize the Dutch part of the adoption.

Socialising, with friends, and family in person.

OUT:
Embassy, Askari (Guards) etc. Less safety issues most probably.

Facebook, Sometimes fun, often also annoying...

Skype, less need to use it, but we probably will with England :-)

Swimming ? We will have to see about that...

Jawel, Het is natuurlijk nog steeds het begin van een nieuw jaar en dat betekend de tijd voor lijstjes -
het lijkt erop dat de 365 dagen vast gelegd kunnen worden in een lijstje.
Mede geinspireerd door Google, zie de link onderaan, zal ik ook een proberen om mijn en ons jaar in wat lijstjes samen te vatten.

Januarie - tot Augustus
Deze periode waren we nog in Nederland beide aan het werk en Matthew op school.
De kernwoorden (voor mij) op werk,
VOR=Ondernemingsraad,  Nieuwe Storemanager, Projecten; Sales, Logistiek en Customer Service.
En thuis,
Dagjes uit, Floriade, IJmuiden, Zaanse Schans, Nieuwe Apple Store in Amsterdam!(waar mijn maatje werkt)
Matthew's Feest , (en Bevrijdingspop met rappers), de Nieuwe Bioscoop in Hoofddorp, Ouderraad op school, Vierdaagse en dan uiteindelijk ...
Het huis leeghalen: spullen inpakken in dozen en opslaan, en dingen verkopen op Marktplaats, en dingen weggooien ....

En eenmaal in Kenia komen er andere woorden:
Life is good  een slogan die mij aanspreekt en een merk uit de USA met een positieve kijk en veel berichten op  Facebook,  wat (dat laatste) een bron is van informatie, soms inspiratie, en soms irritatie de afgelopen (4) maanden...
Koffie, best een belangrijk drankje! Zowel thuis met de Jura machine als hier met de Kenwood machine.
Met een kop (goede) koffie per dag ben ik al tevreden ;-)
Maar ook als ik met Kieran Nairobi verken en stop bij Dormans of Java house.
Wat kleine beestjes mogen hier ook niet ontbreken ...Mieren zijn regelmatig vervelende bezoekeres in de keuken en badkamer vooral en ook  Muggen  en Muggen beten vooral  mijn voeten en onderbenen zitten al vol met littekentjes... En de Gekko (kleine hagedis) familie die in de badkamer woont,  Justin die 5cm lang was maar flink groeit, Justin's moeder die twee keer zo groot is en net een nieuwe aanwinst, Justin Jr die maar een paar cm lang is!

En natuurlijk de allerbelangrijkste reden dat we hier zijn - Kinderen!
Vrijwilligerswerk, wat deze maand begint en wel door zal gaan tot we vertrekken ...
(tot nu toe is het helpen op de Nederlandse School)
Boeken, tot op heden heb ik gelezen als "tijdverdrijf",  tot nu toe 30 boeken.
Dankzij de familie, de bibliotheek bij de Zweedse School en mijn eerste ervaring met ebooks...
Nieuwe School, The Netherlands School Society, het grootste en belangrijkste voor Matthew (ok, op het zwemmen na dan ;-) en, vanaf morgen ook voor Kieran.
Goed systeem voor de lessen  (IPC international curriculum) en leuke mensen.

Dus, What is hot and What's not ? - wat was er in 2012 en blijft dat in 2013...

2013 Voorspellingen  ;-) vanaf 2de gedeelte van het jaar...

IN:
Afrika (op de een of ander manier zal dit avontuur toch wel invloed hebben op ons...)

Weer werken bij IKEA! (veel mensen geloven dit misschien niet, maar ik mis het echt wel...)

Twitter (lekker kort en directer, in NL met constante toegang tot WiFi)

Boeken  :-)     dat zal wel niet veranderen

Scheren, misschien wat vaker noodzakelijk ;-)

De Rechtbank, om de adoptie in Nederland af te ronden.

Met vrienden en familie leuke dingen doen.

OUT:
De Ambassade,Askari (Bewakers) etc. Minder veiligheids zaken waarschijnlijk.

Facebook, Soms leuk, vaak ook irritant...

Skype, minder nodig, maar waarschijnlijk nog wel met Engeland :-)
